Multiple randomized controlled trials have shown that kids do significantly better on executive function and memory performance tests (but not reading) in the hours immediately following the consumption of the equivalent of about one and a half cups of wild blueberries compared to placebo. In a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study, researchers found that cognitive performance improved “across all measures" for kids consuming blueberries, and the more berries they had, the better.
